Historical NoteThis small painting was sent to the White House early in 1963. The portrait of Macaroni was meant as a gift for Caroline Kennedy. On March 1, Jacqueline Kennedy's social secretary Letitia Baldrige wrote to the artist, Vincent Fabian of New York, on behalf of the First Lady, thanking him for his kindness.

Custodial History NoteThis object was received after the death of President Kennedy as an unsolicited gift to Jacqueline Kennedy by a public gifter. It was obtained by the Government through the Deed of Gift signed by Jacqueline Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Edward Kennedy in 1965
