Physical DescriptionHandmade pair of walnut bookends with a bronze replica of the transom ornament of U.S.S. Constitution on the upright. A bronze plaque attached to base is engraved "Presented to Commander-in-Chief President Kennedy by Admiral Arleigh Burke 29 May 1961." The plaque attached to the base of 'b' is engraved "Replica of the Transom Ornament of the United States Frigate Constitution, Commissioned 22 July 1798".
