Physical Description"Lalita" doll called "Madhwi." She is an Indian female doll with plaster body dressed in embroidered sari tie dyed red, white, black and blue. She wears bead and chain necklaces and ankle bracelets.
Historical NoteThis doll was presented to First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy by Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, President of India, during his state visit to the United States June 4, 1963.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was a gift to President and Mrs. Kennedy from Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, President of India. It was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
