Physical DescriptionOne of two identical congratulatory messages from Captain and crew of Japanese destroyer "Amagiri" given to John F. Kennedy upon his inauguration as President. Signed by Amagiri crew members at their reunion in Tokyo, January 15, 1961. Below signatures message reads, "SINCERE CONGRATULATIONS FOR THE INAUGURATION OF THE HONORABLE JOHN FITZGERALD KENNEDY AS PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND BEST WISHES FOR SUCCESS EXPRESSED BY THE SURVIVING CAPTAIN AND CREW OF DESTROYER AMAGIRI OF THE IMPERIAL JAPANESE NAVY."
