Physical DescriptionUnited States Navy identification card for John F. Kennedy. Card has JFK's signature, hair color, eye color, weight, and birth date. Black and white photograph of Lt. Kennedy in upper left corner. Card is validated with signature of W. Gill Wylie, Lieut. USNR. Card is contained in a plastic folder by two metal grommets.
Historical NoteJohn F. Kennedy's service in the Navy during World War II was a formative experience in his life. He actively sought combat duty and served in the Pacific Theater as commander of patrol torpedo (PT) boats 109 and 59. He emerged from his military service a decorated combat hero.
