Frank B. Lanning Jr. (1906-1987) is best known for his long career as a sports cartoonist for the Providence Journal Company newspapers.

Lanning grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, but moved to Providence, Rhode Island, where he became the full-time cartoonist at the Providence Journal. Frank Lanning spent 46 years as the legendary sports cartoonist at the Providence newspaper, where his cartoons gained national attention year after year.
