Claus Bergen
Painter, German, 1885-1964
After studing at the Royal Academy in Munich under Karl von Marr Claus Bergen became an illustrator, exhibiting at the Exposition Universelle in Brussels in 1910. In 1914, Bergen was appointed Marine Painter to Kaiser Wilhelm II and painted naval scenes from both World War I and II. The year before his death he presented the President John F. Kennedy with ‘The Atlantic’
