Gunlocke was founded as W.H. Gunlocke Chair Co. on Oct. 2, 1902 by five entrepreneurs. At that time, the company manufactured bedroom, library and lounge chairs. In 1911, the company began to specialize in office furniture. In 1969, the company was renamed The Gunlocke Co. and added desks, credenzas and storage units to its line.

In 1989, Gunlocke became an operating company of HON Inds., a Fortune 1000 company based in Muscatine, Iowa.

During its 100 years in business, Gunlocke has provided wood furniture to a variety of industry leaders and government officials, including seven presidents.
