Paul Manship

This noted artist and sculptor designed the 1961 Inaugural Medal. He met twice with President John F. Kennedy to work on the portrait and Mrs. Kennedy was consulted by the Medal Design Committee on both the design and patina of the Medal. The 1961 Medal is the second such medal to be designed by Sculptor Manship. His first Inaugural Medal was for Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933.
