General Douglas MacArthurAmerican, 1880-1964

MacArthur graduated West Point in 1903, and was first in his class. He was colonel of the “rainbow division” during World War One, and was then promoted to Brigadier General after the end of WWI. MacArthur served as Chief of Staff to the US Army from 1930 – 1935. At the start of World War II, MacArthur was a Lieutenant General in Philippines and ended WWII as the “Supreme Commander” of the Allied Forces in Japan (appointed by President Truman). At the start of the Korean conflict (1950) MacArthur was named Commander of the UN Forces, until April 1951. MacArthur won the Congressional Medal of Honor for his years of service to the Nation.
