HalstonFashion Designer, American, 1932-1990

Roy Halston Frowick was born in Des Moines, Iowa, April 23, 1932. After his school education, Halston became a hatmaker in Chicago. At 26 he moved to New York to work for prominent milliner Lilly Daché. By 1960, Halston works at Bergdorf Goodman as a hatmaker and becomes the chief milliner to future First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, now on the campaign trail. Jacqueline Kennedy chose a Halston pillbox hat to wear to her husband’s presidential inauguration, which in turn launches Halston's career.
