Physical DescriptionFemale doll with plastic body wearing costume of oriental origin with purely Mexican motifs, considered the folkloric costume of Mexican woman. Doll wears a white linen blouse with square neck and red embroidery, an orange wool skirt, called a "Zagalojo" with green satin inserts and green and silver sequins, a green rebozo, and red, white, and green bows in her hair.
Historical NoteThis doll was presented to First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy by the First Lady of Mexico, Eva Samano de Lopez Mateos with a group of 17 other dolls representing different costumes from various areas in Mexico.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was a gift to First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy in 1961 from the First Lady of Mexico. It was held by the General Service Administration until it was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in 1965.
