Physical DescriptionA sports cartoon depicting the talents of the captains of the Harvard and Yale football teams, Torbert Macdonald and Bill Stack. Two small side sketches portray Macdonald's exploits of the previous year, and his ability to avoid the "Yale game jinx". A small sketch at the bottom is captioned, "A great running back [Macdonald] vs. a powerful defensive lineman [Stack]".
Historical NoteTorbert Macdonald attended Harvard University, where he was captain of the Crimson football team and the roommate of John F. Kennedy. They remained close friends throughout their lives, with Macdonald serving as an usher at then-Senator Kennedy's wedding and as an honorary pallbearer at President Kennedy's funeral. He gave this cartoon to John F. Kennedy.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy. It was held by the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library Archives until it was transferred to the Museum Collection in 2024.
