Historical NotePremier Nikita Khrushchev of the Soviet Union made a state visit to the United States under President Dwight Eisenhower from September 15, 1959 to September 27, 1959. It was the first state visit of a Soviet leader to the United States.

Custodial History NoteItem was given to John F. Kennedy in 1959 by the artist and donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in 1965 by the Estate of President Kennedy. It was held by the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library Archives until it was transferred to the Museum Collection in 2024.
