Historical NoteJohn F. Kennedy's "Alliance for Progress" was a program aimed at countering the perceived communist threat from Fidel Castro in Cuba by promoting economic development and democratic reforms across Latin America, essentially trying to prevent the spread of Castro's revolution to other countries in the region through positive change and economic aid. JFK formed alliances with the coutries of Venezuela and Colombia under this program.

Custodial History NoteItem was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy. It was held by the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library Archives until it was transferred to the Museum Collection in 2024.
