Historical NoteThe USS Everett F. Larson was built in the final year of World War II in Bath, Maine. It was commissioned in April of 1945 and almost immediately sent to the Pacific Ocean for the remainder of the war with Japan. The ship later fought in the Vietnam War. The ship was later decommissioned in October of 1972 and was then loaned to South Korea. South Korea eventually bought the ship, renaming it JEONG BUK and used it until 2000.

Custodial History NoteThis item is material associated with the White House the Kennedy Administration and the Executive Offices of the President. It was either government property or was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
