Physical DescriptionA collarless bolero jacket in ivory duchesse silk satin embroidered with crystal beads and shells by Brody. The jacket has 3/4 length sleeves and is lined with white taffeta. The abstract botehs (paisley whorls) are outlined in tiny pearlescent shells. This style of jewel like embroidered bolero jacet was the mainstay of Paris couture in this period of the early 1960's.
Historical NoteFirst Lady Jacqueline Kennedy wore this jacket to a fundraiser celebrating the first anniversary of the Kennedy inauguration at the National Guard Armory in Washington D.C. on January 20, 1962.
Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteItem is from the personal collection of President and Mrs. Kennedy. It was donated to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum by the Estate of President John F. Kennedy in 1965.
