Physical DescriptionBrooch shaped like two berries with leaves. This two-fruit clip pin contained (at the time of purchase) 37 diamonds totaling 1.04 carats which adorn the leaves and 80 rubies totaling 9.15 carats, to decorate the berries. This clip, originally designed in 1956 was produced in Paris. The brooch has a long stick pin as a clasp.
Historical NoteThis brooch was a gift from the President-elect to Jacqueline Kennedy to celebrate the birth of their son, John F. Kennedy Jr. The pin was purchased by John F. Kennedy in a private showroom of Tiffany's New York offices on January 11, 1961.

First Lady Jaqueline Kennedy wore the pin on Inauguration day and on several other occasions while first lady, including June 2, 1961 during her state visit to Paris while touring with Andre Malraux, in Vienna that same year, and during the presentation of the Egyptian statue at the National Gallery of Art on November 3, 1961.

Custodial History NoteThis item was owned by Jacqueline Kennedy. It was a gift from President Kennedy, who purchased it from Tiffany & Co in 1961. It was donated to the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation by the Estate of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in 1995. The John F. Kennendy Foundation Inc. donated it to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in 2009.
